The benefits of cryolite used in grinding wheels

Cryolite: Sodium hexafluoroaluminate, molecular formula Na3AlF6, molecular weight is 209.94. Color due to impurities and white, gray or crystalline particles, its melting point 1025℃, easy to absorb moisture, slightly soluble in water, aqueous solution is acidic, in the case of sulfuric acid decomposition of the release of fluorine gas. 

Potassium cryolite: also known as potassium aluminum fluoride, molecular formula K3AlF6, molecular weight 258.24, white or light gray powder, potassium fluoroaluminate (cryolite), slightly soluble in water. 

The grinding wheel is mainly used for grinding, polishing the product at high speed. The grinding wheel is a product that is very easy to be polished, and long-term use will smooth the surface of the grinding wheel, resulting in the reduction of the working efficiency of the grinding wheel. Cryolite is first used as a reinforcing material to improve the strength of abrasive tools. In addition, molten cryolite can also play a lubricating role, and can precipitate fluorine, which is conducive to the grinding of steel, so cryolite is used for grinding without coolant dry grinding wheel effect is good.

The use of cryolite in the grinding wheel can have the following effects:

1, improve the adhesive force of the binder, play a reinforcing role.

2, effectively reduce the grinding surface temperature and oxidation degree. Because the melting point of cryolite is low, it melts under the action of grinding heat, potassium fluoaluminate (cryolite) material needs to attract grinding heat, and at the same time, due to melting, it promotes the grinding particle to fall off, thereby preventing the grinding wheel from plugging.

3, reduce the burned area of the cutting material. Due to the melting of cryolite, the heat is absorbed, and the grinding temperature is reduced, so that the burned area of the cutting and grinding parts is reduced.

4, improve cutting and grinding speed. Cryolite becomes liquid after melting, which is a good lubricant and can improve the cutting speed.

5, in the grinding process, potassium fluoride aluminate (cryolite) industry, cryolite can be decomposed after melting, precipitation fluorine, is conducive to the grinding and cutting of steel, so cryolite is especially suitable for dry grinding wheels without coolant.
